Our diving
Clidive is one of the most active diving clubs in the country. We enjoy adventurous diving, discovering new sites and exploring new ground. We normally plan 70 – 90 days of diving each year. More than half of these will be from our own boats both in the UK and further afield (France is a favourite destination). We also aim to organise a couple of trips a year to further-flung destinations.
In the UK
UK diving is amazingly diverse with historical shipwrecks, complex reef systems and some of the largest seal colonies in the world. Our nutrient-rich waters attract basking sharks that come to the west coast and Cornwall to feed every summer.
Places in the UK we regularly visit are Portland, Plymouth, Falmouth, Penzance, the Isles of Scillies, Pembrokeshire, the Inner and Outer Hebrides, Lundy Island, Farne Islands and St Abbs. In addition to our weekend and Bank Holiday trips we try to do at least two weeks of expedition diving in the UK each year, sometimes more.
International diving
We don’t just stay in the UK. In the winter and spring months especially we head to other climes. Over the last few years our trips have included the south of France, Normandy, Cyprus, Croatia, Egypt and the Canary Islands. We regularly take one of our own boats to explore the French coasts.
Trips for all levels of diver
Some of our more adventurous diving is restricted to more experienced members but we ensure that at least one trip every month is open to all qualified divers.
Great value for money
Diving from our own boats costs just £45 a day. When we are away we try to use self-catering accommodation to keep costs down.
The club has over twenty sets of scuba kit and these can be hired out at very low cost to members who don’t have all their own kit yet. As lots of our members don’t own a car, the club owns a transit van so kit can be taken direct to the dive destinations while members get the train or share vehicles.
